Nel 1986 ha formato insieme a Gianluca Vaccari il duo di musica country i Winchester. Nel 1989 Nek è diventato cantante e bassista di un gruppo rock chiamato White Lady e ha scritto le prime canzoni. Inizialmente il quartetto è nato come cover band dei Police, per diventare poi una formazione con un suo repertorio personale, tanto da incidere il White Lady – The Demo.
